InTRANSIT Festival

InTRANSIT festival is a celebration of newly commissioned arts events taking place on the streets, parks and public places of Kensington and Chelsea. The series of 11 events, curated by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea and linked by the theme of 'movement', will include promenade theatre, site-specific installations, artist-led walks, opera and dance.

Highlights include: a promenade performance combining theatre and BMX choreography which the audience will follow on bikes called Bicycle Thieves, Susurrus, a site-specific piece by artist David Leddy which sold out at the last Edinburgh fringe and will be re-imagined for Holland Park Gardens, The Knowledge Emporium, a pop up shop on the streets of Kensington which will collect stories from residents and visitors to the area and Monkey and Bear, a promenade performance by theatre company Gilt & Grime which will take to the streets with life-sized puppets and a 16-piece brass band.

The colour reflects the iconic British images of traditional telephone boxes, post boxes and London buses.

Royal Geographical Society

This exhibition showcases 20 examples where F1™ technology is impacting on our lives, from changing the way we look after patients and design our sports equipment, to maintaining the heating systems in our homes. The exhibition features unique items such as the Baby Pod II, Solar B Solar Probe and Ovei Wellbeing Capsule. The Ovei Capsule has been developed by McLaren Applied Technologies.

Trash Fashion, Exhibition Road, SW7; ongoing; Trash Fashion Live Tue 3 Aug–Thu 5 Aug; 10am–6pm; free

This exhibition investigates how the latest technology is helping to create clothing without waste. Trash Fashion Live features events and looks at 'BioCouture', which harnesses the microbes that ferment green tea to produce sheets of film that can be used to make clothing.

The permanent galleries relating to brain science and genetics has been redeveloped to reflect advances in this field.

The spectacular wardrobe of Grace Kelly will be on display; tracing the evolution of her style the display will present over 50 of Grace Kelly's outfits together with hats, jewellery and the original Hermès Kelly bag. These will be accompanied by film clips and posters, photographs and her Oscar statuette.

An exhibition of photographs by Dominican photographers portraying both the beauty and the challenges of the region.

The pictures will be available to buy; all the money raised from their sale and from ticket sales for the talks will go towards The Last Survivors Conservation Project.

Irish Cultural Centre

This exhibition draws attention to a Famine graveyard in the Claddagh area of Galway City. The ancient cemetery contains headstones going back as far as the 16th century, yet no headstone commenorates the hundreds of Famine victims buried there. The only reminder is the Claddagh Church Cemetery Book, which lists the hundreds of dead. The artwork is based on these 420 names.

The Japan-British Exhibition in 1910 was to help strengthen the alliance between the two countries, in terms of political friendship, trade and commerce. Showing gardens, temples, tea-houses and water features built by Japanese designers and workmen, visitors felt that they were in Japan itself when they saw the paper and stone lanterns and the cherry and almond blossom on the trees. This exhibition documents the story of the 1910 exhibition which was held in White City.
